Job Description:

Bakhtar University (BU) is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science. The Dean will be responsible for overseeing the academic and administrative functions of the Computer Science faculty, ensuring the continuous development and improvement of the faculty, and fostering an innovative and dynamic learning environment. The successful candidate will be expected to lead the faculty with a strategic vision, maintain high standards of education, and contribute to the overall growth of the university.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Planning: The Dean will continuously plan for the improvement of the faculty. This includes setting strategic goals, identifying areas for growth, and ensuring the faculty remains at the forefront of academic excellence in the field of Computer Science.

Representation: The Dean will serve as the representative of the Computer Science faculty within the university. This includes attending meetings, working closely with university leadership, and promoting the faculty's vision, values, and achievements.

Policy Implementation: The Dean will implement policies, rules, and regulations assigned by the Vice Chancellor of Academics and ensure compliance within the faculty. The role also involves ensuring that faculty members are motivated to follow university guidelines and improve their teaching performance.

Administrative and Financial Oversight: The Dean will supervise the administration and financial management of the faculty, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and that the faculty operates within its budget.

Reporting: The Dean will prepare and submit progress reports of the faculty to the Vice Chancellor of Academics. These reports will include faculty development, challenges, achievements, and plans for future growth.

Faculty Management: The Dean will be responsible for recruiting, staffing, training, and evaluating faculty and staff members. The role involves ensuring that all faculty members meet academic and professional standards and are provided with the necessary resources to excel in their teaching.

Curriculum and Academic Quality: The Dean will supervise and review the faculty's curriculum, course outlines, and instructional methods. This includes collaborating with faculty members to ensure courses are up-to-date, relevant to industry demands, and aligned with the university’s educational objectives.

Student and Faculty Support: The Dean will be responsible for resolving complaints and suggestions from students and faculty members. This includes addressing issues related to academic performance, faculty behavior, and administrative matters. The Dean will also work to motivate faculty members to perform at their best.

Collaboration and Innovation: The Dean will cooperate with other departments within the university to bring innovation to the faculty. This includes initiating new programs, enhancing faculty resources, and ensuring the faculty adapts to technological advancements in the field of Computer Science.

Teaching and Curriculum Updates: The Dean may be required to teach courses and will also be responsible for arranging meetings with the Vice Chancellor of Academics to update the curriculum based on market demands and industry trends.

Strategic Planning and Reporting: The Dean will monitor and complete academic assessments and strategic planning documents to ensure the faculty's alignment with the university’s broader goals and objectives.

Experience with SQL, Job Requirements for Dean, Faculty of Computer Science:

Educational Qualifications:

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field.

Experience:

• 5-6 years of relevant experience in a similar leadership role, preferably within an academic institution or higher education.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong leadership abilities with experience in managing teams and driving academic progress.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve problems both independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in Dari, Pashto, and English.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in modern technological tools and an understanding of the latest trends in Computer Science education.
• Ability to motivate, guide, and support faculty and staff in their academic and professional growth.
• Familiarity with administrative processes, including curriculum development, accreditation standards, and academic assessments.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality education and fostering a positive academic environment.

Additional Skills:

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan strategically for faculty growth and innovation.
• Experience in academic leadership, including teaching, curriculum oversight, and performance evaluations.
